Jonathan Dziedzic pitched 7 innings of shutout baseball and the Blue Rocks scored the only 3 runs of the game in the top of the 9th inning to take possession of 1st place in the Carolina League's Northern Division Second-half standings.

Reliever Blake Wood took the mound in the 8th inning and didn't miss a step allowing just 1 base runner in 2 innings of work for the victory. Terrance Gore led off the 9th with a single to center followed by a bunt single down the 3rd base line for Jack Lopez. After a sacrifice bunt advanced the runners, Michael Antonio hit a sacrifice fly to left to plate Gore. That would ultimately be the game winning run but that didn't stop Cody Stubbs from stepping up and giving the Rocks some breathing room with a 2 run double with 2 outs.

After losing 4 straight games to Potomac as part of a 6 game home and home series in early June, the Blue Rocks have taken 8 of the last 9 against their division rivals to secure the division's top spot of the second half by a half game.
