Louis Freeh (WDEL/file)Former FBI Director Louis Freeh of says he's grateful for the care and support he has received since he was injured in a car crash this week in Vermont.
Freeh, who lives in Wilmington, issued a statement Friday through the office of U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy after the Vermont senator visited Freeh in the hospital. The two have been friends for years.
In particular, he thanks the agents and employees of the FBI. He says, "Their devotion, vigilance and prayers have sustained me and my family."
Freeh did not describe his injuries or condition or discuss what caused the Monday crash in the town of Barnard. Following the accident, he was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. The hospital hasn't provided any information.
